Looking to be inspired for a Christmas tablescape that will wow your guests? Whipping up my courage, I’ll venture to say there are about four basic design styles: traditional, rustic, eclectic, contemporary/minimal, and glam.
Regardless of which style, it’s a good idea to start with your existing decor style, what you already have in dinner and flatware, linen and Christmas decorating items. With that in mind, here are just a few examples of the for styles.
Plaid with winter greenery is a very traditional Christmas style. I must confess here, that the above examples from Home Is Where The Boat Is is my absolute favorite. But then I simply love every tablescape the company designs!
Here’s a fabulous example of mixing and matching china ware of different styles along with the traditional plaid table runner. Obviously, you don’t really have to have every item from the same collection.
Here the wood planter box references a rustic design, along with the rattan plate charger and the medium check napkins. Even the red goblets add to rustic feel.
Stunning is the first word that comes to my mind for this rustic, yet comtemporary/minimal Christmas tablescape.
The gold, black, gray and white colors and a collection of paper Christmas trees in abstract designs gives this tablescape a very contemporary air.
A Glam Christmas tablescape
What glam? Go for sparkle overload in the Christmas decor theme. Silver and gold are great colors to achieve a glam Christmas tablescape.
From my own table, here is my version of a traditional design for a winter wonderland. But I’ve also added some elements of contemporary, such as the ceramic Christmas tree and silver-wire reindeer tea candle holders. Learn more on my post A Christmas Tablescape.
There are of course many more Christmas decorative themes to achieve a beautiful Christmas tablescape. The most successful tablescapes, in my humble opinion, are those that follow a theme and one of the design styles:
traditional, such as a plaid pattern;
rustic that bring in wood elements;
eclectic which mix up two styles;
and glam with its sparkle overload.
